About this event

SEA's Biodiversity Gala will educate Loyola’s community about the importance of diversity in all aspects of the environmental movement. Biodiversity is an important concept in cultivating resilient ecosystems and having diverse leaders in the environmental activism movement ensures that marginalized communities are represented. The gala will feature speakers to discuss the importance of ecological biodiversity and diversity within advocacy movements. After a panel of questions, students will have time to discuss the key concepts, eat, and learn more about biodiversity and local BIPOC leaders. This year's gala will highlight environmentalism through a panel of different cultural organizations in Chicago. There are many Chicago based environmental organizations that come from different cultural identities and they all work toward the common goal of solving environmental issues. Just as biodiversity is necessary for ecosystem function, the presence of multiple identities is necessary for solving environmental issues. Art is a way for cultures to connect and show what they value. We will have an exhibit displaying how students view environmentalism/environmental justice through their identity. --- Event Details: https://lucommunity.luc.edu/rsvp?id=385283
