Temple Israel Long Beach · Long Beach, CA
About this event
A music and song history performance by Leeav Sofer and Janice Mautner Markham is a dynamic, theatrical, and educational journey that traces the evolution of Judaic and American roots of music. As the creative forces behind the acclaimed klezmer-rock ensemble, Mostly Kosher, frontman Sofer and violinist Mautner Markham blend traditional Eastern European Klezmer and Yiddish theater tunes with modern global genres like jazz, rock, and tango. Their performance functions as a historical timeline, using music and narrative storytelling to explore themes of social justice, human dignity, and Jewish cultural resilience.
