Welcome to a reading and discussion with author Julie Carrick Dalton featuring her newest novel The Forest Becomes Her. Dalton (AS ’92) is a UD English, Journalism, and Honors alum, and will read from her newest novel and discuss her work with Dr. Michael Chajes, Dean of the Honors College. This event is co-hosted by the Honors College and the Department of English. Wednesday, October 21, 5 pm - 6 pm in Bayard Sharp Hall (23 S. Main St.) Closest parking option to the venue is Trabant University Center Garage (Lot 17C): situated at 17–19 W. Main St. It is a short walk north-northeast to Bayard Sharp Hall. Books will be available for purchase during the event.Books purchased prior to 5:15 pm will be signed by the author. Julie Carrick Dalton (AS ’92) is the New England-based author of The Forest Becomes Her, her third novel. She is also author of The Last Beekeeper, longlisted for the Massachusetts Book Award, and Waiting for the Night Song, winner of the New Hampshire Writers’ Project’s People’s Choice Award for Best Novel, an Amazon Editor’s pick for Best Books of the Month, and a Most Anticipated 2021 novel by CNN, Newsweek, USA Today, Parade, and others. A member of the teaching faculty of Drexel University’s Creative Writing MFA Program and a recent Visiting Lecturer at Tufts University, Julie is a frequent speaker on the topic of Fiction in the Age of Climate Crisis at universities, conferences, libraries, and museums, nationally and internationally. Her writing has appeared in Chicago Review of Books, Orion, Newsweek, The Boston Globe, Electric Literature, Lit Hub, and other publications.
