Saturday, October 24, 2026 · 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM CDT
Holocaust Museum Houston Classroom · Houston, TX
About this event
Join Holocaust Museum Houston in partnership with Art in the Heart for our annual Community Altar Workshop. This family-friendly, bilingual program invites participants to explore HMH as a site of remembrance honoring Holocaust victims and the legacy of our local survivor community. Participants will learn about Jewish traditions for honoring departed loved ones and how remembrance can inspire us to become Upstanders today. As part of this cross-cultural experience, attendees will learn about Día de los Muertos, its traditions of honoring loved ones, and the process of creating an altar. Participants can make crafts to take home and incorporate into their personal altars at home. This is a bilingual friendly program with services available in English and Spanish. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required due to limited seating. Art in the Heart’s mission is to break down barriers and empower communities through creative expression. They envision a community in which everyone has access to the knowledge, inspiration, comfort, enrichment, and cultural complexity of the arts. For more information, please contact: lgarcia@hmh.org
