About this event

Join us to celebrate Sonny Buttar’s debut novel – a multigenerational family saga at once haunting and hopeful. In The Daughters of Rosebud , teacher Salma Chaudhry lives a quiet life, avoiding all attachments. But after a call from her estranged father, the protective shell she lives within starts to crack and the trauma she’s buried for eighteen years emerges. What ensues is a powerful exploration of sisterhood, family loyalty, and the courage it takes to heal. Poet and doctor Aaron Hauptmann will join Sonny Buttar in conversation, for a conversation weaving threads from multiple disciplines through this richly crafted novel. RSVP here! Order THE DAUGHTERS OF ROSEBUD here! Sonny Buttar was born in Pakistan and raised in England and the American Midwest. Her first novel, The Daughters of Rosebud, will be released in October 2026. Dr. Aaron J. Hauptman is a pediatric and adult neuropsychiatrist and associate director of Neuropsychiatry at Kennedy Krieger Institute in the Department of Psychiatry. He is an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He specializes in working with individuals and their families struggling with the emotional, behavioral and cognitive impact of neurodevelopmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
