Join Dr. Bonnie Noble, art historian at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and renowned specialist in the Northern Renaissance, for an engaging in-gallery talk. Dr. Bonnie Noble is an art historian at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, specializing in the Northern Renaissance, with secondary interests in Gothic Europe, Northern Baroque, and Italian Renaissance. She received her BA from Northwestern University in Religious Studies, her MA in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania, and her Ph.D. in Art History from Northwestern University. She has been awarded grants from the Kress Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Her publications have appeared in Sixteenth Century Journal, Reformation and Renaissance Review, Artibus et Historiae, and Journal of Literature and Art. She has authored numerous book chapters as well as a monograph on Lucas Cranach the Elder. Her book “Eerie Virgins and Airborne Witches” is under contract with Routledge. Caravaggio | Revolution features one original masterpiece by Caravaggio and more than 40 works by Baroque masters, the exhibition shines a light on how Caravaggio’s radical realism transformed not only painting, but the very language of modern film, photography, and popular culture.
