Executive Director’s Book Club: “The Mango Tree”
Thursday, October 29, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
Virtual / Online · Melbourne, FL
About this event
Join Florida Humanities and Annabelle Tometich for a discussion of her book, The Mango Tree , moderated by Florida Humanities Executive Director Nashid Madyun. The Mango Tree is a moving memoir about family, identity, immigration, and the complicated bonds that shape who we become. Through stories of growing up in a Filipino-American family in Florida, Tometich explores her relationship with her mother, the legacy of her parents’ past, and the ways love and hardship can exist side by side. With warmth, humor, and honesty, The Mango Tree invites us to consider what we inherit from our families-and what it means to make peace with the parts of our history that we cannot change. This program is part of our monthly virtual “Director’s Book Club,” where book lovers join Florida Humanities Executive Director Nashid Madyun for lively discussions on novels both new and old.
