About this event
Robert Putnam brought the decline of the American community into the national conversation. His recent work asks how we might begin to rebuild. Join us for "Rebuilding Social Capital in America," the second lecture in Common Ground: A Civic Communication Series. Putnam is the Peter and Isabel Malkin Professor of Public Policy, Emeritus, at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and the author of Bowling Alone. President Obama awarded him the National Humanities Medal for deepening our understanding of community in America. Dr. Putnam's talk will be followed by a moderated conversation and audience Q&A. It is presented by the Department of Communication, with support from the Department of Political Science and Public Service, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the West Chair of Excellence in Communication and Public Affairs. This event is free and open to the public.
