Flash Film Fest: Film screening and Director Talk
Wednesday, October 7, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM EDT
Hill Library, Fishbowl Forum · Raleigh, NC
About this event
Filmmaker Dong Jing, director of No English In America, recipient of a Best Documentary Film award at the Lowell Film Festival (https://lowellff.com/) (2025 Awards & Filmmakers (https://lowellff.com/2025-awards-%26-filmmakers)), will show students that filmmaking does not have to begin with professional equipment, extensive technical knowledge or a large production team. It can begin simply, for example, with a story that you want to tell. Through a film screening, a conversation with the filmmaker and audience Q&A, students will gain a practical understanding of how a film develops from an initial idea into a complete work. The central message of this panel is: If you have a story you want to tell, start making it. Filmmaking is more accessible than you may think.
