<p>Join Austin Parks Foundation, Austin Parks and Recreation, and <a href="https://siglogroup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Siglo Group</a> as we lead a 8 week skill-building accelerator for neighbors and park lovers at Barton Creek Greenbelt! We will continue restoration efforts managing invasive species and trails to support native plants and animals while creating a better park experience. This is an opportunity to learn more about Central Texas ecology, build restoration skills and leave a lasting impact on Barton Creek! You’ll leave this five week course with the knowledge and ability to continue this work with APF and help facilitate future volunteer events.</p> <p><strong>Volunteer will learn to manage:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Invasive Species Removal</li> <li>Trail Construction</li> <li>Erosion Concerns</li> <li>Native Seed Collection/Planting</li> </ul> <p>Volunteers will utilize <a href="https://www.naturesteward.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nature Steward </a>as an educational guide and resource for this course.</p> <p><strong>What to Bring</strong></p> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Plenty of drinking water and fluids to stay hydrated throughout the day. Electrolyte beverages and snacks encouraged!</li> <li aria-level="1">Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate gear for wooded natural areas and uneven terrain. <ul> <li aria-level="2">Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes.</li> <li aria-level="2">Recommend wearing long clothing and pants with ankle coverage for protection.</li> <li aria-level="2">Recommend sun and bug protection – don’t forget your hat, bug spray and sunscreen!</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Where to Meet : </strong>Please refer to each volunteer shift to view starting locations throughout the Barton Creek Greenbelt.</p> <p><strong>Parking : </strong>There is on-site parking available throughout the park.</p> <p><strong>Accessibility</strong>: Please note that our activity for the day will involve walking on uneven terrain, slopes and potentially wet/muddy surfaces.</p> <p>We hope you’ll join us learning, working and building community!</p> <hr /> <p><em>In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately. </em></p>
