About this event
Held every Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 PM at Bolinas Park in Fairfax, this weekly farmers market runs throughout the growing season from May through October. The setting itself, nestled among towering redwoods at the intersection of Bolinas Road and Cascade Drive, creates a uniquely relaxed atmosphere that reflects the character of this tight-knit North Bay community. Unlike traditional morning farmers markets, the Fairfax Farmers Market caters to the after-work crowd, making it a popular gathering spot where locals stop by to pick up dinner ingredients and connect with neighbors. The market draws a steady mix of regional farmers, bakers, and artisans who sell directly to shoppers. You'll find seasonal produce from local farms, freshly baked goods from small-scale bakers, and handmade items from craft vendors. The vendor mix typically includes both essential staples and specialty items, reflecting what grows well in Marin's microclimate during each part of the season. Spring brings early greens and spring vegetables, summer offers peak stone fruits and berries, and fall transitions into squash, apples, and root crops. Bakers and food producers often showcase prepared items like jams, cheese, and prepared foods alongside raw ingredients. The attendee base leans toward community members who prioritize supporting local producers and handmade goods. Fairfax itself draws people interested in small-town living and sustainable practices, so you'll connect with shoppers who actively seek out vendors they recognize week after week. The Wednesday evening timing and outdoor redwood setting make this as much a social event as a shopping destination, with families, couples, and solo shoppers all making it part of their weekly routine. The market's established reputation in Marin County means consistent foot traffic throughout the season for vendors who build relationships with regular customers.
