About this event
Amsterdam's weekly farmers market runs from mid-May through mid-October at Sanford Farms on Route 30, offering a reliable source for locally grown produce and artisanal food products throughout the growing season. This is the kind of farmers market where vendors are typically farmers and small-scale food producers from the Montgomery County area, so you'll find seasonal vegetables that actually reflect what's coming out of the ground each week rather than what's been shipped from elsewhere. Early summer brings greens, berries, and early crops, while late summer and fall focus on squash, root vegetables, apples, and other hearty autumn staples. The Wednesday afternoon time slot, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, tends to draw both home cooks planning their weekly meals and people stopping by after work. Vendors at farmers markets like this one typically include farmers selling their own vegetables and eggs, bakers offering breads and pastries, producers of jams and preserves, maple syrup operations, and flower growers. It's a setting where repeat customers get to know their vendors and can place orders for bulk quantities or specialty items heading into the season. The market accepts multiple payment methods including credit cards, and importantly, it takes SNAP/EBT benefits as well as WIC and Senior FMNP vouchers, making it accessible to shoppers across different income levels. This acceptance of benefits is a defining feature of many farmers markets in the region and reflects a commitment to food access. If you're a vendor considering Sanford Farms Amsterdam Farmers Market, you're looking at a consistent weekly commitment through the heart of the growing season, with the kind of established customer base that farmers markets develop when they run in the same location year after year.
