About this event
Held weekly through the spring and summer months, this farmers market at 4501 Sand Creek Rd. in Antioch brings together local growers and food producers who supply the Contra Costa County community with fresh seasonal produce and artisanal food items. Running from late April through the end of October on Thursday mornings, the market operates during hours that work well for shoppers looking to stock up before the weekend or grab items for weekday meals. The vendor mix focuses on food and produce, with regular offerings that typically include fresh vegetables and fruits at their peak ripeness, baked goods from local bakeries, locally grown herbs, cut flowers, preserves and jams, nuts, and other farm-produced items. Many vendors emphasize organic and sustainably grown options, appealing to shoppers who prioritize knowing where their food comes from. The market creates a direct connection between Antioch residents and the farmers and producers who grow and make what they're buying. This is an accessible market that accepts multiple payment methods including credit cards, SNAP benefits, and WIC vouchers, making it easier for a broader range of shoppers to participate. The Thursday morning timing aligns with when many vendors have the freshest stock available, having harvested or prepared items specifically for the market day. For vendors looking to build a consistent customer base in the Antioch area, a weekly farmers market spot offers reliable foot traffic throughout the growing season and the chance to establish relationships with repeat shoppers who value seasonal, local food sources.
