Fort Caroline National Memorial, 12713 Fort Caroline Road, Jacksonville · Jacksonville, FL
About this event
Join us every second Sunday at 9:15 am at Fort Caroline National Memorial. This is a beginner-friendly outing – from the bird curious to seasoned birders, all are welcome! We will start the 1.5 mile Hammock Trail along the St Johns River, looking for herons, egrets, and Bald Eagles. We will continue into the maritime forest to look for resident species, like Pileated Woodpeckers, Tufted Titmice, and Northern Cardinals – and migratory species like Yellow-throated Warblers, Great-Crested Flycatchers, and Northern Parulas. Birders have reported 165 species at this eBird hotspot ! Meet leader Kate Zeray in front of the Visitor Center to get signed in. Binoculars will be available to borrow for the outing. This trail has tree roots and moderate incline – more information can be found here: Hammock Trail . There are a few benches along the trail. Restrooms are available at the visitor center.
