About this event
Forest City's dedicated farmers market brings together local producers and small-scale growers for a weekly gathering that runs from late spring through fall. Operating on both Tuesday and Saturday mornings at 172 Depot Street in Forest City, NC, the Rutherford County Farmers Market offers shoppers consistent access to fresh, locally-sourced products throughout the growing season from April 26 through October 28. This regular schedule makes it easy for both customers and vendors to build relationships and plan their weekly shopping around market day. At a farmers market like this one, you'll find a rotating selection of seasonal produce, baked goods made by local bakers, fresh herbs, farm eggs, seafood, and cut flowers. The product mix naturally shifts with the seasons, so early-season markets might feature spring greens and asparagus while late summer brings tomatoes, squash, and berries. Beyond produce, many vendors offer value-added items like jams, honey, herbal products, and other farm-based goods. The market also welcomes craft vendors who sell complementary handmade items, adding variety to what's available each week. What sets farmers markets apart from other retail venues is the direct connection between producer and customer. Shoppers come expecting to meet the people who grew or made what they're buying, and vendors benefit from that face-to-face relationship and repeat customer base. The Rutherford County Farmers Market accepts multiple payment options including credit cards, WIC benefits, and Senior FMNP vouchers, making it accessible to a wide range of community members. Whether you're a vendor looking to establish a regular presence in Forest City or a shopper seeking fresh local products, the Tuesday and Saturday morning market at this Depot Street location serves as the hub for local food and farm goods in Rutherford County.
