About this event
The Heritage Syrup Festival is East Texas's premier folk life celebration held annually on the second Saturday of November. This full-day event honors traditional ribbon cane syrup making with live demonstrations of antique mule-powered equipment and folk artist demonstrations including basket weaving, blacksmithing, quilting, and wood carving. The festival spans two locations: the five-acre Depot Museum grounds and Historic Downtown Heritage Square six blocks away. Vendors can display handcrafted arts and crafts, with approximately 150 booths lining the streets. The event draws roughly 30,000 visitors who enjoy local food, live music, antique tractors, classic cars, clogging, and family activities. The free downtown portion makes this an accessible market for artisan goods, with additional museum admission available for syrup demonstrations.
