Jones Mack was born and raised in Cross, South Carolina, a small town about 30 miles outside Charleston in the Gullah region. Pamela has loved cooking since childhood. As the oldest of four girls with two working parents, she was responsible for preparing meals for her three younger sisters. After graduating from Morris College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, she moved to Atlanta, where she has lived for the past 26 years. Pamela’s love of cooking has stayed with her, and she regularly hosts Sunday dinners at her home. After much encouragement from family and friends, Pamela decided to start her own catering business, and Taste of Satira was born. She named her business after her great-grandmother, Satira Gethers. Pamela remembers watching her great-grandmother in the kitchen as a little girl, where she taught her eight aunts how to prepare Gullah cuisine. Her catering business offers boutique catering services, weekly meal preparation and basic cooking instruction. Pamela is also a spice provisioner of Gullah spice blends. In 2019, she won Best in Food at Garden & Gun’s Made in the South Awards. Pamela loves exploring all kinds of cuisines, but she always returns to her Gullah Geechee roots. Preparing the food her grandmother and great-grandmother taught her and her daughters reminds her of family and the joy they shared in preparing and enjoying meals together. Pamela has adopted her great-grandmother’s mantra: “Let me love you with my food!” Free with Garden Admission See the Full Lineup
